To begin with, you have probably heard about the Ugly Stik. If you have not, just keep fishing and I can about assure you certainly will hear this name at some point. Anyhow, A business called Shakespeare makes the Ugly Stik rod. For more than a hundred years Shakespeare has long been producing fishing equipment of all sorts including fishing rods.

I say all that because it is important to appreciate just how long the Ugly Stik has existed as well as the reason why it is still one of the better rods you can aquire today. Without a doubt, you just will not discover a better quality rod for the price, but we will save that for later. Back in 1976 was when the Ugly Stik was initially developed and it did not actually become popular until the 1980′s. It didn’t take long for the fishing rod to be known for it’s top quality and longevity. The best example I could provide is a story about myself. I was a kid in the 1980′s and I bought my first Ugly Stik casting rod when I was eight years young. This was sometime in 1989. I still use this same rod today and in every Friday night bass tournament I fish in. Now, personally, It is simply amazing to me that I have gotten twenty years and counting out of this fishing rod! Otherwise, if you are thinking different, then I want to know what rod you are fishing with!

Saying this earlier, you will not find a better quality rod for that price. Why are they so inexpensive you might ask? Well, when the product that you have been making for a long time has been selling and selling, the price can be dropped because you know you are going to sell a lot of volume. Shakespeare is doing exacly this with the Ugly Sik! They know their rod is made of good quality and they know their customers are going to buy it. The Ugly Stik has become the standard choice as a fishing rod for women, children, amateurs, and even professionals. If you don’t believe that then look at me. One of my Ugly Stiks has been fished with for over twenty years as a child, as an amateur, and maybe never a pro, but definitely a well experienced fisherman. Try one out and see for yourself. I know it will not break the pocket book like so many other rods will!

For years I stored my ice fishing rods in the same buckets that went onto the ice with me. With all of my fly and spinning rods cased/tubed, I figured it was time for the ice rods to be properly stored during the offseason. This case fills the need perfectly. It’s your typical light-duty, molded plastic case, like one would find on tackle boxes. The two halves match up perfectly and the latches snap tightly and securely. It comes with 4 removable foam inserts that can be inserted/adjusted to fit the length of your rods. Bear in mind the inserts are only made of foam and you will get some movement of your rods if reels are attached. Not an issue for me, since I’m only using it for storage. With reels attached, I can safely store/transport 6 rods. Without reels I can get 10 rods in this case! If you were to use it on the ice, I doubt that you would lose it short of a blizzard due to it’s bright, red color! It also comes with two plastic utility boxes for jigs, tackle and the such. Overall, worth the asking price!
