www.survivalistboards.com For a hankered term survival SHTF situation, fishing should not be overlooked. But to be able to fish, your going to need to have some basic fishing gear. As I have said in several forum placarding about stockpiling survival gear for SHTF, I think fishing supplies should be at the top of the list. That is, unless you live in a desert or hundreds of miles from a water source. In some kind of retentive term SHTF survival situation, fishing could be an important food source. The better prepared you are to utilize fish as a food source, the better your chances for success.

Hey Kevin you next time you are at your tire repair shop if they have gravel paring lot look around they usually have lead weights all over the place you can get pounds of lead for free. Some junk yards have a lot of old lead weights that fall off the cars as they are brought in.
great video! helps me to get organized much better!thanks.
Black soft plastics work surprisingly well (at least down here in Texas). I’ve also found that for lizards, the Carolina rig seems to work better, while for worms, the Texas rig seems to work better. Never tried the brush hogs with either one.
Great topic sir!
Kevin, could you do a video on bartering? A topic that comes up frequently is about “op-sec” and keeping your preps secret/hidden. When SHTF and it becomes necessary to exchange goods, how do you protect yourself without broadcasting to everyone about all the supplies you have? Like the old forts and trading posts of years gone by, it seems that once word gets out that you have supplies for trade you’ve just put a target on your back.
I am a minimalist when it comes to fishing. Lures always rust and dissolve if you store them too long. I think the most important thing to stockpile are trout hooks and fishing line. If you use live bait you can be more certain to catch fish in any conditions. I like to simply tie a small trout hook directly to the line and you can catch any size fish.
